FRESNO, Calif. - Jack Cust and Terrmel Sledge's two-run home runs in the 6th and 7th inning put the Beavers on top as they cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Grizzlies Tuesday night at Grizzlies Stadium.

Cust took Fresno reliever Michael Tejera deep to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth and then Sledge blasted a two-run shot off Tejera to take a 5-3 lead in the 7th before scoring five runs in the 8th to put the game away.

Tejera (7-5) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on four hits in three innings of work after starter Jonathan Sanchez was removed from the game after two scoreless innings and five strikeouts.

The Grizzlies stormed out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning when shortstop Juan Melo hit a two-run blast off Portland starter Dirk Hayhurst after Abraham Nunez walked. Fresno (57-81) also added a run in the fourth inning when pinch-hitter Chad Santos ripped an RBI single that score Nunez for one run, but Melo was thrown out at home to end the inning.

With the score at 5-3, reliever Dusty Bergman replaced Tejera and had a rough inning, allowing five runs on four hits and two wild pitches to make it 10-3 Beavers. Portland third baseman Paul McAnulty ripped a two-run double to right field and first baseman Jon Knott followed with another two-run double in the inning before Brandon Villafuerte came in to finish the inning.

Hayhurst (1-1) picks up the win with a quality start with three runs allowed on six hits in six innings.

Melo finished with three of the Grizzlies eight hits, including a home run and two RBI and was the only Grizzlies player with a multi-hit game.

The Grizzlies and Beavers will continue their series Wednesday night at 7:05 with RHP Nick Pereira starting for Fresno against RHP Tim Stauffer for Portland
