Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies took their third straight game from the Bowie Baysox 2-1 Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. Jason Krizan had the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth.
In his Rumble Ponies debut, center fielder Jacob Zanon led off the eighth with a hit through the left side that he stretched into a double. Sam Haggerty moved him over to third on a bunt single. Then Krizan hit a long fly ball to center that brought Zanon home.
RHP Tommy Wilson was dominant in the no-decision as he allowed one run and four hits over seven innings. Wilson did not issue any walks and had a season-high nine strikeouts, including striking out the side in the seventh to end his night. It is Wilson's longest outing as a Rumble Pony. Over his last three-starts he has allowed just one run on eight hits with 14 strikeouts and only one walk over 19 innings of work.
Joseph Shaw (1-3) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Luis Gonzalez (1-1) suffered the loss as he allowed one run on two hits in two innings of relief.
The Baysox got on the scoreboard first on an RBI double by Rylan Bannon in the fourth. The Ponies evened the game in the sixth on a Patrick Mazeika RBI double. It was his team-high 56th RBI of the season.
Binghamton has taken the first three games of this series and has won eight of its last 11.
The Rumble Ponies look for the four-game sweep of the Baysox Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 2:05 PM on NewsRadio 1290 AM WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show starts at 1:50 PM.
