Kristek recalled by Buffalo Sabres

(Rochester, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres announced today that right wing Jaroslav Kristek has been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Kristek, 22, is having his best season as a professional. In 34 games, he has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points. His goal, assist and point totals are all career highs for the third-year pro from Zlin, Czech Republic. He currently ranks fourth on the team in points. His most impressive stretch of games was from Nov. 29th to Dec. 7th, when he registered a career-high five-game goal-scoring streak (7+0).

In the past two seasons, Kristek has recorded eight goals and nine assists in 78 games for the Amerks. In 2000, he played for the gold-medal winning Czech Republic National Team at the World Under-20 Championships.

Kristek was the Buffalo Sabres' second-round selection (50th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

The Amerks play the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks twice this week. Rochester travels to play at the Cincinnati Gardens on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th. Both games are 7:35 p.m. starts and will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and www.amerks.com.
