January 8, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League has announced a three-year marketing partnership with Promark Sports, Inc., providing the sports marketing firm with exposure around the AHL beginning with the 2002-03 season.
Promark will supply a total of 350,000 Fan Advantage Books to the participating teams, allowing fans access to discounts and value-added promotions from local and national retailers. Promark, which also has partnered with teams from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the NCAA, is the United States' leading producer of direct marketing promotions in the sports and fitness industries.
Fifteen AHL teams are participating in the program in 2002-03: Bridgeport, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Hartford, Hershey, Houston, Lowell, Manchester, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Providence, Utah, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Worcester.
"Our relationship with Promark will give AHL fans terrific added incentive to visit their local arena, while generating significant new business for the advertisers who are taking part in the program," said Chris Nikolis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the American Hockey League.
Now in its 67th season, the AHL serves as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 75 percent of all players competing in the NHL are AHL graduates, and the American Hockey League has been home to more than 100 honored members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
