Bulldogs Tie AHL Record with 13th Consecutive Road Win

The Hamilton Bulldogs tied an AHL record on Wednesday night as they won their 13th consecutive road game by defeating the St. John's Maple Leafs 5-1 at Mile One Stadium in St. John's, Newfoundland. The Bulldogs tie the 1995-96 Albany River Rats for most consecutive wins on the road. The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to break that record on Sunday, January 19th when they visit the Rochester Americans.

The Bulldogs are first overall in the AHL with a record of 31 wins, 6 losses, 3 ties and 2 overtime losses. Hamilton is now riding a season high eight-game winning streak and are undefeated in the last 17 games. As well, the Bulldogs have earned at least one point in their last 22 contests.

Hamilton was led offensively on Wednesday night by Mariusz Czerkawski (2g,1a) and Jani Rita (1g,2a) who each had three points respectively for the Bulldogs. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Tomas Plekanec and Michael Ryder. Earning Hamilton's other assists were Tony Salmelainen, Jason Ward and Jozef Balej. Nathan Barrett scored one goal for the St. John's Maple Leafs.

In goal Bulldogs' goaltender Ty Conklin made 31 saves to earn the win for Hamilton. Mikael Tellqvist stopped 24 shots for the Maple Leafs.
