Springfield, MA – In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Springfield Falcons are pleased to announce that their Monday, January 20th 4:05 p.m. game v. the Albany River Rats will educate fans on the diversity found in the game of hockey. All Children under age 12 will be admitted to this afternoon game for ONLY $1.00.

"We look forward to educating our fans, young and old, on how diverse the game of hockey really is," said Carole Appleton, Falcons' Director of Marketing. "Our special ticket price can really help us open doors to fans that think hockey is only enjoyed by certain crowds of people. On our team alone we have players from six different countries."

In addition to the special ticket price and the hockey game, there will be a FREE skate for fans following the game.

"Hockey is a great sport, and Springfield is a great hockey city," said Springfield Mayor Michael Albano. "I applaud the Falcons and the AHL for making this offer to our citizens. I encourage people who have never seen professional hockey to go see the Falcons on January 20th. They will become fans from the opening face-off."

Sarah Charles, a student the Community Music School of Springfield and Our Lady of Hope School in Springfield, will be performing the national anthem.
