Red Wings Assign Williams to Griffins

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Wednesday announced that center Jason Williams has been assigned by the Detroit Red Wings.

Williams, 22, has been held scoreless with two penalty minutes in four games with the Griffins this season. A member of Detroit's Stanley Cup championship team last year, Williams has collected six points (3-3-6), two penalty minutes and a plus-four rating in 15 outings with the Red Wings.

Williams is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Griffins visit the Milwaukee Admirals at 8:12 p.m.
