Omaha, NE- The American Hockey League announced today that Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights goaltender Brent Krahn has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 26, 2006. Krahn earned victories in all three of his starts last week, stopping 75 of 80 shots for a 1.62 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.
On Wednesday night in Manchester, Krahn made 18 saves as Omaha came from behind to defeat the Monarchs, 2-1. In Rochester on Friday, he recorded 20 saves to help the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights to a 3-2 win over the Americans, and one night later, Krahn turned aside 37 shots in regulation and overtime and went 5-for-5 in the shootout as Omaha knocked off Toronto, 3-2.
In recognition of his achievement, Krahn will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Ak-Sar-Ben Knights home game.
Krahn, a 23-year-old native of Winnipeg, is in his third professional season after being drafted by Calgary in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
