
Admirals earn five points, continue New England invasion this week

NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals picked up five out of a possible eight points in the standings, playing games on four different opponents' ponds last week. Nathan Barrett scored twice and Martin St. Pierre had three assists, but the Ads fell 4-3 in a shootout to Albany on February 22nd. Corey Crawford made 36 saves as Norfolk rebounded to defeat Providence 4-2 on February 24th. The next night, Matt Keith and Mark Cullen each lit the lamp twice to lead the Admirals to a 5-2 win at Springfield. Norfolk closed out the week with a 4-1 loss at Portland on Sunday. Norfolk's 11-game road trek continues as the team invades New England for five matches in six days.
STANDINGS
At 30-21-2-4 (66 pts), Norfolk is currently fourth in the East. The division is led by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (39-14-3-3, 84 pts), followed by Hershey (34-16-2-8, 78 pts) and Bridgeport (31-25-3-2, 67 pts). Philadelphia (23-27-1-7, 54 pts) is fifth and Binghamton (23-29-3-3, 52 pts) sits in sixth.

TEAM NOTEBOOK
- Mark Cullen tied a franchise record for points in a season (61, Brett McLean - 2002-03) when he registered three points at Springfield on February 25th. The next night at Portland, Cullen set a new record with a goal for his 62nd point of the year.
- In four games last week, Norfolk had 36 power play chances to just 20 penalty kills. The Admirals were 7-36 with the man-advantage (19.44) and killed off 16 of 20 shorthanded situations (80.00).
- Norfolk has been outshot in three straight games (since February 24 at Springfield) for only the second time this year.
- Mark Cullen has points in seven of the last eight matches (7+3=10 points since February 11 vs. Springfield).
- Nathan Barrett is currently tied for first in the AHL in power play goals with 18.
- Pavel Vorobiev has picked up points (1g, 3a) in three straight contests.
- James Wisniewski had a four-game assist streak snapped at Portland on Sunday.
- Brandon Rogers registered his first point as an Admiral with an assist at Portland Sunday.
