
Omaha's Krahn named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights goaltender Brent Krahn has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 26, 2006. Krahn earned victories in all three of his starts last week, stopping 75 of 80 shots for a 1.62 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.
On Wednesday night in Manchester, Krahn made 18 saves as Omaha came from behind to defeat the Monarchs, 2-1. In Rochester on Friday, he recorded 20 saves to help the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights to a 3-2 win over the Americans, and one night later, Krahn turned aside 37 shots in regulation and overtime and went 5-for-5 in the shootout as Omaha knocked off Toronto, 3-2.
In recognition of his achievement, Krahn will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Ak-Sar-Ben Knights home game.
Krahn, a 23-year-old native of Winnipeg, is in his third professional season after being drafted by Calgary in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. In 41 games for Omaha in 2005-06, Krahn is 18-15-6 with a 2.52 goals-against average (fifth in the AHL), a .912 save percentage (eighth) and three shutouts (tied for second). He is 43-36-9 with nine shutouts in 97 lifetime AHL appearances.
