Crunch Earn Points In Record Eleven Straight Games

CRUNCH EARN POINTS IN ELEVEN STRAIGHT: With their 5-4 overtime loss to Albany on Sunday, February 26, Syracuse extended their point streak to a franchise record 11 consecutive games. During the streak, Syracuse has posted an 8-0-2-1 record.

HARTIGAN'S STREAK CONTINUES: Center Mark Hartigan kept his goal-streak alive tallying in each of the Crunch's four games this week. He has now recorded a goal in his last eleven games, a franchise record. It's the longest streak in the AHL since Brad Smyth's 12-game run in 1995-96 and just three shy of the all-time league record of 14 set by Brett Hull in 1986-87.

SZWEZ REASSIGNED TO DAYTON: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have reassigned right wing Jeff Szwez to Dayton (ECHL). In 15 games with Syracuse, Szwez has tallied four goals, four assists and 18 penalty minutes. A native of Etobicoke, Ontario Szwez has recorded 22 goals, 21 assists and 74 penalty minutes in 41 games with Dayton.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:

HERSHEY (COLORADO AVALANCHE): Syracuse hosts Hershey on Friday, March 3 for the second and final of two regular season games. The Crunch lead the series 1-0-0 after beating the Bears in a shootout 5-4 at Giant Center on December 3. Center Joey Tenute (3a) and left wing Tomas Fleischmann (1g, 2a) lead all players in head-to-head scoring with three points. Crunch left wing Joakim Lindstrom (2g) leads the Crunch in head-to-head scoring with two points. Goaltender Andrew Penner recorded 36 saves. Bears goaltender Frederick Cassivi recorded 19 saves in the shootout loss. Lifetime, the Crunch are 25-32-12 against the Bears.

BINGHAMTON (OTTAWA SENATORS): On Saturday, March 4 Syracuse hosts Binghamton for the seventh of eight regular season games against the Senators. Syracuse leads the series 4-2-0 after defeating Binghamton 5-2 on February 19 at Broome County Arena. Center Mark Hartigan (3g, 8a) leads all players in head-to-head scoring with 11 points. Right wing Jeff Heerema (6a) leads all Senators players in head-to-head scoring with six points. Goaltender Mike Ayes has appeared in four games for Syracuse with a 3-1-0 record. Binghamton goaltender Billy Thompson has a 1-3-0 record against Syracuse. Lifetime, the Crunch are 12-16-2 against the Senators.

Celebrity Bartending Series Continues at McNamara's Pub on February 27: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Labatt's, announced that the Labatt's Celebrity Bartending series will continue on Monday, February 27 at McNamara's Pub.

Crunch players Andy Canzanello, Dan Fritsche and Alexandre Picard will serve as celebrity bartenders at McNamara's Pub from 5 - 7 p.m. on Monday, February 27. McNamara's Pub is located at 5600 Newport Road in Camillus. For directions call 672-8872.

All tips generated by the players that night will be donated to the Joyce Curry Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

Platt and Verot to Sign Autographs at Quickway February 27: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Geoff Platt and Darcy Verot will be at Quickway in Mattydale on Monday, February 27 from 4-5 p.m. to sign autographs.

Wednesday, March 1

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Verizon Wireless, March 1: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Joe Motzko and Peter Sarno will be at Verizon Wireless in ShoppingTown Mall on Wednesday, March 1 from 4-5 p.m. to sign autographs.

Verizon Wireless is located at 3649 Erie Blvd. Call 701-4701 for directions.

Celebrity Bartending Series Continues at Tully's on March 1: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Labatt's, announced that the Labatt's Celebrity Bartending series will continue on Wednesday, March 1 at Tully's on Erie Boulevard.

Crunch players Steven Goertzen, Joakim Lindstrom and Andrew Murray will serve as celebrity bartenders at Tully's from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1. Tully's is located at 2943 Erie Boulevard. Call 449-9339 for directions.

All tips generated by the players that night will be donated to a charity of Tully's choice.

Monday, March 6

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Advance Auto Parts, March 6: The Syracuse Crunch announced that defenseman Jeff MacMillan and center Ben Simon will be at the Advance Auto Parts in Liverpool on Monday, March 6.

MacMillan and Simon will be available from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, March 6 to sign autographs and take pictures. Advance Auto Parts is located at 8410 Oswego Road in Liverpool. Call 652-4731 for directions.

Canzanello and Sugden to Visit Kinney Drugs Monday, March 6: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch defenseman Andy Canzanello and right wing Brandon Sugden will be at Kinney Drugs in Liverpool on Monday, March 6.

Canzanello and Sugden will be available from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, March 6 to sign autographs and take pictures. Kinney Drugs is located at 437 Electronics Parkway. Call 453-1750 for directions.

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Tully's, March 6: The Syracuse Crunch announced that Crunch players Andy Delmore, Greg Mauldin and Alexandre Picard will appear at the Tully's in North Syracuse on March 6.

Delmore, Mauldin and Picard will be available on Monday, March 6 from 6 -7 p.m. at the Tully's located at 7838 Brewerton Road in North Syracuse to sign autographs and take pictures. Call 452-5656 for directions.

CRUNCHABLES: Defenseman Andy Delmore is seven points shy of tying Chris O'Sullivan (1999-00) and Radim Bicanek (2000-02) for most points by a defenseman in a season (65). He is also three assists shy of tying O'Sullivan for most assists in a season by a defenseman (47)... Right wing Tyler Kolarik's goal on Sunday was his first short-handed tally of the season... Syracuse is two power play goals shy of tying the franchise mark of 91 set in 1998-99.
