Kraft Named to PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Team

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League announced today that center Milan Kraft was among the 24 players selected to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, scheduled to be played next month at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.

The team, comprising players born in the United States and Europe, includes 21 skaters and three goaltenders. AHL fans determined the starting lineup via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the rest of the roster. Kraft was named to the team as a reserve.

The roster for the Canadian AHL All-Star team will be announced on Friday.

Kraft, 22, is currently playing with the Penguins' National Hockey League affiliate, the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on December 11 for the second time this year.

The 6'3", 211-pound native of Plzen, Czech Republic has recorded nine points (5+4) in 12 games with Pittsburgh this season.

At the time of his call-up, Kraft was tied for first on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in scoring with 18 points (6+12) in 20 games. He is currently tied for first in the league with two game-tying goals.

In 123 NHL games, Kraft has totaled 39 points (20+19) and 24 penalty minutes. In 68 career games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he has recorded 70 points (31+39) and 45 penalty minutes.

Kraft was selected by the Penguins' in the first round (23rd overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic gets underway on Sunday, February 2, with the 2003 Pepsi AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 8:00 p.m. ET. The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday, February 3, and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
