Wolves Players Team Up to Promote Reading

Chicago Wolves center and Notre Dame University graduate Ben Simon, along with defensemen Joe DiPenta and Kurtis Foster will make appearances on Jan. 6 and 7 as part of the team¹s ³Read to Succeed² program, sponsored by Fisher Nuts, which has reached nearly 250,000 children in eight seasons.

These five appearances are scheduled for next week:

Mon., Jan. 6:
Simon--Downers Grove Public Library, Downers Grove, 1050 Curtiss St., 4 p.m.
Simon--Indian Prairie Public Library, Darien, 401 Plainfield Road, 7 p.m.
DiPenta--Oak Lawn Public Library, Oak Lawn, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., 4 p.m.
DiPenta--Orland Park Public Library, Orland Park, 14760 Park Lane, 7 p.m.

Tue., Jan. 7:
Foster--Niles Public Library, Niles, 6960 Oakton St., 4 p.m.
The players will discuss the importance of recreational reading; dress a child in Wolves hockey gear; raffle Wolves prizes; and sign autographs.

The program encourages children to spend more time reading at the library and for recreation. Every participant in the program sets an individual reading goal and has the opportunity to achieve incentive prizes such as Wolves mousepads, T-shirts and game tickets for reaching his or her reading goals.

The Wolves work with the DuPage, North Suburban and Suburban Library Systems and their participating libraries, reaching more than 30,000 kids each year. Members of the Wolves will visit more than 40 libraries throughout the Chicago area this season.
