Sauve Named AHL All-Star Game's Starting Goaltender

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY Bears announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that goaltender Phil Sauve will be the starting goaltender for the Planet USA all stars at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic on February 3rd.

The announcement of Sauve as the staring goaltender for Planet USA comes on the heels of his Sher-wood AHL Player of the week honor for the week ending December 15th, 2002. Sauve ranks in the top five among most goaltending categories including goals against average, saves percentage, and wins.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Sauve is the son of former NHL and Bears' goaltender Bob Sauve. Phil Sauve was drafted 38th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He is tied for fourth place all time in Bears history with 12 career shutouts. He has earned HERSHEY player of the year honors two years running

Sauve and the Bears play game two of their four game road trip Friday night at Bridgeport against the Sound Tigers. Face-off is at 7:35; air time on BIG 92.7 FM is at 7:15.
