Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets stay home this weekend for 2 games at the Memorial Coliseum. Friday night at 8:00 former Komet Kevin Kaminski leads his River Otters from Missouri to town. It will be the 3rd of 4 visits by the Otters this season and 5th meeting overall. The Komets are 3-1-0 vs Missouri for 2005-06 to date after turning back Jimmy Duhart and the River Otters 4-1 in their last meeting Dec. 23 on Fort Wayne ice.

The Komets will have a rare Saturday off this weekend before hosting former Komet Brent Gretzky and his Motor City Mechanics Sunday afternoon at 5:00. The Komets upended the Mechanics 4-1 Nov. 5 in Fort Wayne in the first meeting of the season. Sunday's tilt will be the 2nd of 3 meetings in Fort Wayne and the 2nd of 6 overall for the season.

Friday's Komet home game against Missouri is scheduled to air on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and Sunday's match with Motor City is slated for ESPN Radio AM 1380. Both games will be webcast at www.komets.com KometCast with Bob Chase calling the action radio-rinkside in his 53rd consecutive season behind the Komet microphone. Fans can join Bob for the Sprint P.C.S. Pregame Show 15 minutes prior to the faceoff of each Komet game broadcast.

Komets Chaulk and Dupuis are UHL All-Stars.....center Colin Chaulk and defenseman Guy Dupuis have been selected UHL All-Stars and will play in the 2006 UHL Classic January 25th at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.

Chaulk, 29, will be making his 5th appearance at a UHL All-Star Game. He first was selected a UHL All-Star as a member of the Missouri River Otters in 2000. This year the veteran center will make his 3rd consecutive appearance representing Fort Wayne.

Dupuis, 35, will represent the Komets in his 2nd UHL All-Star Game appearance. The veteran defenseman also represented the Kalamazoo Wings in 2004. Dupuis' selection is his 3rd All-Star honor as a Komet. He also was a Fort Wayne IHL All-Star in 1998 and 1999.

Danbury's Paul Gillis and Muskegon's Todd Nelson will serve as head coaches for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic. A complete selection process for the UHL All-Star Game is posted at www.theuhl.com.

Komet shutout records broken.....Kevin St. Pierre set many records with his shutouts and this past week the Komets established some new team franchise records as well. St. Pierre set a new Fort Wayne Komets franchise record of 14 career Komet shutouts with his 23-save performance and 3-0 win Jan. 7 over the visiting Quad City Mallards. With each St. Pierre shutout, a new goaltender record of career UHL shutouts is set. St. Pierre's shutout Jan. 7 was the 17th of his career in the UHL. St. Pierre's shutout Jan. 7 also established a new Fort Wayne franchise record of 14 career Komet shutouts. St. Pierre surpasses the old mark set by Hall-of-Famer Robbie Irons of 13 shutouts.

The Komets also set a new team franchise record of 3 consecutive shutouts in games played over the past week. The Komets stoned the visiting Roanoke Valley Vipers New year's Eve 6-0. The Komets then whitewashed the Flags in Port Huron Jan. 6 4-0 in goaltender Kevin Kurk's first pro shutout followed by the 3-0 shutout Jan. 7 against the visiting Quad City Mallards. In the course of the 3 straight shutouts, the Komets also set a new Fort Wayne franchise and UHL record of consecutive shutout minutes of 189:27 over 5 consecutive games played from Dec. 23 to Jan. 8.

K's set new P.K. record.....the Komets established a new record of 39 consecutive successful penalty kills over 8 games played from Dec. 23 to Jan. 8. After Missouri's Jim Duhart scored a power play goal Dec. 23rd in Fort Wayne, the Komets turned back 39 consecutive opposition power plays before Danbury's Ryan Barnes scored with the man advantage Jan. 8 in Fort Wayne on the Trashers 5th power play of the game. The previous Komet UHL record was 34 straight successful penalty kills spanning 9 games from Feb. 4 to Feb. 24, 2000

Jorde returns from Grand Rapids.....Komet defenseman Ryan Jorde has returned to the Komet fold after a 3-game stint with Grand Rapids in the AHL (0 pts, 2 pim). The Griffins lead the North Division of the AHL Western Conference and were on the road for games at Hamilton, Houston and San Antonio last week. Jorde is in his 4th year as a pro had previous AHL experience with Rochester 3 seasons (2002-2005) and started this season skating 2 games at Lowell. Jorde was added to the Komet roster Nov. 22 and has appeared in 18 Komet games (0-1=1, +1, 23 pim).

Sunday skate with the Komets.....fans are encouraged to bring their skates again to the game this Sunday when the Komets host Motor City at 5pm. Following all Sunday games, Komet fans can enjoy a free skate, courtesy of Wendy's.
