Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that rookie left wing David Shillington has left the team to return to his home in Calgary, Alberta to play Junior hockey. The team released Shillington on waivers on Monday to enable him to do so.

"David indicated to me that he felt the Junior A level to be a more appropriate atmosphere for him personally to hone his skills toward a career in professional hockey," said Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jim Wiley.

Shillington had seven points (0G, 7A) and 16 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Vipers this season. Although he has played professionally with Roanoke Valley, the 20-year-old forward is eligible to play one more season of Junior level hockey.

The Vipers also announced today that left wing Jourdan Lagace, who was picked up on Friday prior to the Vipers' game against Kalamazoo, was released from his PTO on Sunday.

The next Vipers home game will be Saturday, January 14th versus the Richmond RiverDogs at 7:35p.m. Saturday will be Grand Home Furnishings Seat Cushion Giveaway Night for the first 1000 fans through the door.
