
Elmira's Rookie Leaders Named To All Star Team

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that rookie forwards Chris Chaput and Jarrett Konkle have been named to the Group "A" roster for the 2006 UHL All Star Classic. Fans can vote for the starters beginning on Wednesday, January 11th.
Chaput, who gains his first All-Star award in his first pro season, currently leads the Jackals in scoring with 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) in 35 games played. The 22-year old is tied for the UHL rookie lead in assists (22) and is tied for 4th in points amongst first years (34). Chaput is third on the Jackals in goals (12) and power play goals (5). The Providence, Rhode Island native leads the Jackals with 114 shots on goal, which is the 4th most in rookie shots.
Konkle, who also holds the distinction of earning an All-Star trip in his first pro season, currently leads the Jackals in goals with 20 goals in 35 games played. The 23-year old has 31 points (20 goals, 11 assists) this season, which is good for 2nd on the Jackals in scoring and 6th amongst all UHL rookies. Konkle's 20 goals this season puts him in third place amongst all UHL rookies and 6th overall in the UHL in goals scored. The Milton, Ontario native leads the Jackals and all rookies with 9 power play goals.
"We are very proud to be represented at the All-Star game by Jarrett and Chris," said Jackals Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Perry Florio. "These two have lead our team in scoring all season and they deserve this honor. Both players have had a great beginning to what should be two very successful professional hockey careers."
Both Chaput and Konkle will appear as the player-guests on the Elmira Jackals Coach's Show tonight from 7 pm - 8 pm on Wheels AM 820 WWLZ. The show will be broadcast live from the Coach Florio's office inside the First Arena. It will also be streamed live at www.jackalshockey.com.
The starting lineups for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic will be selected by the fans. Information about for voting can be found at the official website of the UHL, www.theuhl.com. Fans will be able to vote for the starting lineups from Wednesday, January 11th through Monday, January 16th. Jackals fans are encouraged to show they support of Chris Chaput and Jarrett Konkle by voting them to the starting lineup.
The 2006 UHL All-Star Classic is being hosted by the Missouri River Otters and will be played on Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. The official rosters are comprised of 20 players (18 skaters and 2 goaltenders) with each UHL Member Club represented by a minimum of two players.
The Jackals have the week to recover and hone their skills in practice before returning to the ice for three games next weekend at home. Friday night the Jackals face off with the Port Huron Flags at 7:05 pm at the First Arena. Saturday and Sunday the Jackals welcome the Flint Generals for two games in Elmira.
