Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced Tuesday that the United Hockey League team has singed rookie defenseman Dan Boeser (BESS-er). Sticking to club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Boeser was a standout defenseman for the University of Wisconsin from the 2000-01 season through 2003-04. The Savage, Minn. native led all Badgers blue liners in scoring during his senior campaign, netting 8g-14a-22pts. The 8 tallies were a career high at the collegiate level.

"The expectation is that when Dan gets up to speed with what we're doing and being a left-handed defenseman and proven offensive defenseman, he will help our power play improve," said Martinson.

After his senior season at Wisconsin, Boeser suited up for the Peoria Rivermen, then of the ECHL, for one regular season and one playoff game. Boeser's top season statistically at the college level was 2001-02 when he netted 5 goals and had a career-high 23 assists.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 18 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Komets meet for the second time at the MetroCentre. It's another FlyAway Wednesday with the Chicago-Rockford International Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9.
