
Notermann, Hessler named to All-Star Team

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced the 2005-06 All-Star Teams on Tuesday, and IceHogs winger Jason Notermann and defenseman Corey Hessler were picked to represent the Rockford IceHogs. The game is hosted by the Missouri River Otters and will be played on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
Notermann and Hessler are two of the top three scorers on the Hogs this season. Notermann is the IceHogs overall leading scorer to this point, notching 15g-23a-38pts. The third year winger was also loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) earlier in the campaign and scored two goals and chipped an assist in seven contests.
Hessler ranks third overall currently in the UHL for scoring among defenseman. The blue liner has six goals and a team-leading 24 assists. In his fourth season, Hessler's 24 helpers has already established a career high only 33 games into the season.
Both Notermann and Hessler have dawned the alternate captain's "A" this season as well. Notermann's plus/minus rating of +14 is second best on the Hogs while Hessler's +11 is third. The All-Star invitation is the second for both skaters. Notermann skated in and scored a goal for Team East in the 2003-04 ECHL All-Star game, while Hessler played for Team South in the 2002-03 ECHL All-Star game.
The IceHogs All-Stars will skate with All-Stars from the Fort Wayne Komets, Missouri River Otters, Quad City Mallards, Flint Generals, Kalamazoo Wings and Muskegon Fury on Group "B". Group "A" will consist of players from the Adirondack Frostbite, Danbury Trashers, Elmira Jackals, Richmond RiverDogs, Roanoke Valley Vipers, Port Huron Flags and Motor City Mechanics.
Other players selected for Group "B" include forwards Nick Bootland (Kalamazoo), Robin Bouchard (Muskegon), Colin Chaulk (Fort Wayne), Jim Duhart (Missouri), Frank Littlejohn (Missouri), Terry Marchant (Flint), Jeff Nelson (Muskegon), Tyler Rennette (Kalamazoo), Todd Robinson (Muskegon), Chad Woollard (Quad City) and David Wrigley (Muskegon), defenseman Daniel Carriere (Kalamazoo), Guy Dupuis (Fort Wayne), Greg Labenski (Kalamazoo), J.P. Morin (Flint) and Dave Van Drunen (Muskegon), and goalies Joel Martin (Kalamazoo) and Jason Tapp (Quad City).
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 18 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Komets meet for the second time at the MetroCentre. It's another FlyAway Wednesday with the Chicago-Rockford International Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9.
