
K-Wings Send Five to All-Star Game

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that goaltender Joel Martin, defensemen Daniel Carriere and Greg Labenski and forwards Nick Bootland and Tyler Rennette have been selected to participate in the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic. The game will be played Wednesday, January 25th at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
Martin is having a breakout season, as the rookie netminder leads the league in wins (18), GAA (2.05) and shutouts (5). The upcoming All-Star Classic will be the first in Martin's career.
Making his second trip to the All-Star Classic will be Daniel Carriere. With 31 assists, Carriere is tied for first among all UHL defensemen. Carriere is also tied for the league lead for shorthanded goals (1) among defensemen.
Like Carriere, Greg Labenski will be making his second visit to the All-Star Classic. Labenski leads the entire UHL with a plus/minus rating of +33.
Forward Nick Bootland will also be heading to the All-Star Classic. This year will be Bootland's second trip to the All-Star Classic and his first with the K-Wings. The veteran forward was part of the 2004 UHL All-Star Classic as a member of the Columbus Stars. The K-Wings Team Captain has led by example scoring 15 goals adding 21 assists for a total of 36 points, which places him second on the K-Wings in scoring.
The final K-Wings player to earn a trip to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic is forward Tyler Rennette. The veteran forward leads the K-Wings in scoring with 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists). The 48 points places Rennette fourth in the league in total points. Rennette also is tied for the K-Wings team lead in game-winning goals with five. The native of North Bay, Ontario will be making his first appearance in the UHL All-Star Classic.
"We (K-Wings) are extremely proud of our all-star selections," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "Being rewarded with a trip to the All-Star Classic speaks volumes about both the players and the team's effort this season."
The five nominations for the K-Wings to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic is a UHL franchise record for Kalamazoo. The previous high for the K-Wings was two all-stars during both the 2004 and 2005 UHL All-Star Classics.
The official All-Star rosters are comprised of 20 players (18 skaters and two goaltenders) with each Member Club represented by a minimum of two players. The following is the official roster for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.

Danbury's Paul Gillis and Muskegon's Todd Nelson will serve as head coaches for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic.
The starting lineups for the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic will be selected by the fans. Information about for voting can be found at the official website of the UHL, www.theuhl.com. Fans will be able to vote for the starting lineups from Wednesday, January 11th through Monday, January 16th.
