Komets Home for Three Holiday Games in Five Nights

Fort Wayne, IN | Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 --- The Komets are home for three holiday games this week. The last week of 2010 is a busy week of three home games in five nights starting with a visit by the Dayton Gems tonight at 7:30pm. The Komets will welcome the Mississippi RiverKings for the first time this season Wednesday at 7:30pm and Friday the Komets will host the 54th Fort Wayne New Year's Eve game when the Quad City Mallards visit at 8pm.

Monday, Dec. 27, Dayton Gems (14-10-1) at Fort Wayne Komets (6-15-2), 7:30pm ET The Komets earned three points from the Gems in two games last week. Tonight's game is the fourth and final game of a mini four-game series between the K's and Gems. The Komets dropped a 2-1 shootout loss to the Gems in Dayton last night after taking a 4-2 home win last Wednesday and are 1-4-1 in six meetings this season. Tonight's game is the seventh of 14 meetings this year.

Wednesday, Dec. 29, Mississippi RiverKings (13-14-1) at Fort Wayne Komets, 7:30pm ET The Komets will meet the RiverKings for the first of three meetings this year. It's the first of two visits by Mississippi. The RiverKings have lost their last two outings and were 1-2-0 in three games last week. Former Port Huron IceHawk goaltender Larry Sterling is 5-5-1 in 12 appearances with the RiverKings. Mississippi is idle until their trip to Fort Wayne Wednesday.

Friday, Dec. 31, Quad City Mallards (13-13-0) at Fort Wayne Komets, 8:00pm ET The Komets will ring in the new year with their 54th annual New Year's Eve game against the Mallards at 8pm. The Komets have won the last eight straight New year's Eve games for a 36-13-4 all time record at home on the last day of the year. It will be the sixth of 10 meetings this season. The Komets are 2-3-0 against Quad City after five meetings and are winless the last two games against the Mallards. Quad City was winless in two games last week and will host Bloomington tonight and Wichita Wednesday before traveling to Fort Wayne to welcome in the new year Friday night.

Saturday, Jan. 1, Fort Wayne Komets at Dayton Gems, 7:30pm ET It's the eighth meeting of the season between the Gems and K's. It will be the first time the Komets have played on New Year's Day since Jan. 1, 1994 when they defeated the Rivermen at Peoria 3-2. After Dayton visits tonight, the Gems will host Evansville Tuesday, skate at Bloomington Thursday and host Evansville Friday for New Year's Eve before welcoming the Komets Saturday for the first game of the new year.
