Dayton Gems News Release

The Dayton Gems played a pair of games against the Fort Wayne Komets last week and ended the week with an even split, winning one game and dropping the other.

The Gems first game against the Komets was on Wednesday, Dec. 22. Dayton scored the opening goal of the game when Jonathan Ornelas put one in the back of the net in the second period.

That lead was erased in the third period.

Despite Brandon Naurato's goal in the third period, the Gems gave up four goals to the Komets in the final period as they were defeated by the Komets 4-2.

The Gems' luck turned around on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Fort Wayne.

After going down to the Komets midway through the second period, the Gems rebounded when Naurato scored at the end of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. They then claimed the victory when Ernie Stewart scored the game winning goal in a shootout.

The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
