(NORFOLK, VA) - Three Charlotte pitchers combined on the club's eighth shutout of the season en-route to a 2-0 victory over the Norfolk Tides on Sunday in the first half finale from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA. With the win, the Knights extended their win-streak to three games and concluded the first half in sole possession of first place in the International League South Division - a half-game ahead of the Norfolk Tides.

Micah Johnson started the game off with a lead-off double and then scored on a throwing error by Norfolk catcher Steve Clevenger to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. The run was all the team needed on Sunday thanks to solid pitching from starter Scott Carroll and the Charlotte bullpen.

Carroll made his first start since being optioned to the Knights from Chicago on July 9 and tossed four scoreless innings of four-hit ball. The Kansas City native is 3-2 with a 2.10 ERA in seven starts with the Knights after spending most of the season in the White Sox bullpen.

Matt Albers took over for Carroll in the fifth inning and earned the win after retiring all six batters he faced. Albers, who is on a Major League Rehab assignment from Chicago, has tossed scoreless outings in five of his seven appearances with the Knights since joining the team on June 26.

Junior Guerra replaced Albers in the seventh inning and tossed three shutout innings to earn the save in his third relief appearance with the Knights this season. The Venezuelan native recorded his first save of the season in the game, five days after recording his first career Triple-A win.

Kevin Gausman was saddled with the tough-luck loss after allowing just one unearned run over five innings pitched. The outing was Gausman's first since being optioned to Norfolk from the Baltimore Orioles on July 8.

Charlotte added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning when Drew Garcia singled and later scored on a wild pitch by Cesar Cabral.

The Knights now enter the All-Star Break with a half-game lead over the Tides for first place in the IL South Division, which marks the first time since 2012 the club is in first place at the break. The 2012 squad made it all the way to the Governors' Cup Finals. The Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, July 16 to open an eight-game homestand. The exciting homestand kicks off with a four-game series against Norfolk on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.
