Bats No Hits Mud Hens in 5-0 Win

TOLEDO, Oh - Left-hander Tony Cingrani (4.0 IP), David Holmberg (3.0 IP) and right-hander Sam LeCure (2.0 IP) combined to throw the Louisville Bats' first ever nine-inning no-hitter Sunday afternoon in Toledo. The Louisville Bats (45-47) defeated the Toledo Mud Hens (40-51) 5-0.

The Bats got an early lead in the top of the first inning after an RBI single by Jermaine Curtis and a sacrifice fly from Chris Berset for a 2-0 Bats lead.

Brennan Boesch went 3-for-5 and hit his third homer of the season to put the Bats on top 3-0 over the Mud Hens in the top of the third.

Curtis gave the Bats their final runs of the games in the seventh inning with a RBI single that scored Kristopher Negron and Hernan Iribarren to make it a final score of 5-0. Curtis went 3-for-5 and had three RBI in Sunday's game.

Cingrani went four innings in his rehab start, he walked three and struck out five Mud Hens. Holmberg (W, 5-6, 4.63) came on in relief and kept the no hit going in his three innings of work.

Right-hander Tim Melville (L, 3-8, 4.93) went six innings, gave up six hits, three earned runs, walked three and struck out two.

LeCure struck out Mike Hessman for the final out of the game. Hessman hit 25 homers as a member of the Bats in 2013. This was the last game for the Bats before they begin their All Star break.
