
Knights Fall to Bats 6-0 on Friday Night

(LOUISVILLE, KY) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game four of the six-game series against the Louisville Bats by a score of 6-0 from Louisville Slugger Field on Friday night. The loss snapped Charlotte's two-game winning streak.
LHP Tanner Banks (0-1, 4.50) made his first appearance with the Knights this season and started game four on Friday night. Banks allowed just one run on three hits over two innings. He was saddled with the loss.
The Bats scored for the first time on Friday night thanks to an RBI double by Mark Kolozsvary in the bottom of the second inning. Three innings later, the Bats tacked on four more runs against Charlotte RHP Brody Koerner. The four-run fifth inning was highlighted by a two-run single from Cristian Santana. In the seventh, Santana drove one more run home on a sacrifice-fly RBI to make it a 6-0 ballgame. He led the way with a total of three RBIs on Friday.
In all, the Knights were only able to muster two hits. Designated hitter Yermín Mercedes and second baseman Yolbert Sánchez recorded one hit apiece. Catcher Seby Zavala reached base twice with two walks. The loss evened the series up at 2-2.
Former Charlotte LHP Justin Nicolino (1-1, 8.38) was the winning pitcher for the Bats. He started the game and gave up just one hit over five shutout innings.
The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Louisville Bats from Louisville Slugger Field on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
