Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Jake Burger has been red hot at the plate for the Knights over his last three games. His power-hitting success continued on Wednesday.

A night after hitting two home runs on Tuesday, Burger launched his fourth home run over his last three games on Wednesday, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game two of the six-game series against the Durham Bulls by a score of 9-2 from Truist Field.

Burger provided Charlotte's lone runs of the game with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The blast was his 15th of the season, which is good for second on the team this year. Overall, the Knights managed just four hits in Wednesday's game and lost for the second straight day.

LHP John Parke (1-2, 5.25) started for the Knights and was solid over his first four innings of the game. Parke, who did not allow a run over his first three innings, gave up a solo home to Taylor Walls in the top of the fourth inning. After a scoreless fifth inning, Parke allowed four runs in the sixth inning and left before completing the inning. In all, Parke allowed five runs on six hits over 5.2 innings pitched and was saddled with the loss.

The Knights are 4-4 so far on the 12-game homestand, which continues on Thursday from Truist Field with first pitch on tap for 7:04 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
