Charlotte Knights News Release

(JACKSONVILLE, FL) - The Charlotte Knights opened up a six-game road series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp with a 2-1 loss on Tuesday night from 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville, FL. Charlotte brought the tying run to second base and the go-ahead run to first base in the top of the ninth inning, but fell just short in the end.

RHP J.B. Olson started the game for the Knights and tossed two shutout innings. Reliever Samuel Peralta then tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Olson to keep the Jumbo Shrimp scoreless over the first four innings of the game. In the bottom of the fifth, however, the 'Shrimp scored two runs against RHP Lincoln Henzman (2-4, 4.77), which proved to be enough. Henzman allowed an RBI single to Brian Miller and an RBI groundout to Bryson Brigman. He was saddled with the loss in the game.

Right fielder Oscar Colás was promoted to Charlotte earlier in the day from Double-A Birmingham and he made his Triple-A debut in Tuesday's opener. Colás recorded his first career Triple-A hit -- a single -- in the third inning on Tuesday night. He finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk.

Left fielder Adam Haseley led the way for Charlotte with two hits. Haseley tripled in the top of the seventh inning and quickly scored on a sacrifice-fly RBI from shortstop Yolbert Sánchez. It was Charlotte's only run of the game.

Jacksonville LHP Matthew Kent (8-11, 5.07) started the game and earned the win after he pitched six shutout innings. The Knights rallied in the top of the ninth inning, bringing runners to first and second base with two outs. Despite the late rally, Jumbo Shrimp RHP Eli Villalobos retired Sánchez to end the game. He earned his fifth save of the season.

The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) from 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday night. First pitch is on tap for 7:05 p.m. from the home of the Jumbo Shrimp. Fans can listen to the game on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action.
