Knights Beat the Indians 12-2 on Saturday Night

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights pounded out 12 runs on 17 hits en route to a 12-2 commanding win over the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The win was Charlotte's third in the series against the Indians.

Charlotte used four home runs on the night to power past the Indians in game five of the series. Left fielder Blake Rutherford had a huge game at the plate for the Knights. Rutherford went 5-for-6 with two runs scored, a solo home run and three RBIs. He home run in the first inning helped start a big offensive night for the Knights. He also finished the game just triple short of the cycle.

Third baseman Jake Burger went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a two-run home run and two RBIs. Burger, who also walked three times, reached base a total of six times on the evening.

Designated hitter Yermín Mercedes launched his second home run of the season and center fielder Adam Haseley recorded his third home run of the year.
