Kings Sign Jones

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have signed goaltender Martin Jones to a three-year entry level contact, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Jones, 18, has been participating in Kings training camp on a tryout basis. He played in 27 games this past season with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, and recorded an 18-8-1 record, a 2.12 goals-against-average, a .911 save-percentage and one shutout. He also played in five playoff games.

Jones is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound native of North Vancouver, British Columbia. He played with the Hitmen in 2006-07 and had a 9-4-3 record, a 3.03 goals-against-average and a .884 save percentage.

The Monarchs have 24 players on their 2008 Training Camp roster (13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders). The team hits the ice for the first time at Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett on Friday, October 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
