Stars assign Sawada to Moose

The Dallas Stars today announced they have assigned right wing Raymond Sawada to the Manitoba Moose.

Sawada, 22, appeared in 10 games last season with the AHL's Iowa Stars at the end of the season where he two goals and seven assists for nine points and 14 penalty minutes.

The Richmond, BC native spent the previous four seasons with the Cornell University Big Red where he played 137 total games and scored 31 goals and 45 assists for 76 points and 131 penalty minutes. He was co-captain of the team in 2007-08 and in 2006-07, he scored four powerplay goals and also collected four game-winning goals. He ranks just one game shy of the school's all-time record for games played.

Sawada was originally drafted in the second round, 52nd overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
