September 6, 2004 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL â Wrapping up the 2004 regular season this afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. game against the Lansing Lugnuts, the Kane County Cougars are set to travel to Peoria on Wednesday to start playoff action with a best-of-three series against the Chiefs. Clinching the first- and second-half titles, a first in franchise history, the Cougars will have home field advantage in both Round 1 and Round 2 of this year's Midwest League Playoffs.
A best of three series, the Cougars begin Round 1 in Peoria on Wednesday, September 8, facing the Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars play Game 2 at Elfstrom Stadium on Thursday, September 9 and if necessary, Game 3 on Friday, September 10, taking the field on both evenings at 6:30 p.m. If Kane County advances to Round 2, they will battle either the Clinton LumberKings or the Cedar Rapids Kernels in another best-of-three series, beginning on the road for the Cougars on Saturday, September 11.
Home field advantage for the Championship Round rotates each post-season between the Eastern and Western Division, this year falling with the Eastern Division. If the Cougars appear in the Final Round, they would face the Eastern Division Champion in a best-of-five series starting at home with Games 1 and 2 and heading on the road for Game 3 and if needed, Games 4 and 5.
