BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Battle Creek Yankees posted the franchise¹s eighth straight winning season - the longest current streak in Minor League Baseball. The Yankees finished 71-68. The Michigan Battle Cats posted winning seasons from 1997-2002, and although in 2003 the franchise changed its team name to the Battle Creek Yankees, the winning continued.
In the 10-year history of the franchise, the only losing season came in 1996. The franchise has been affiliated with three different major-league teams - Red Sox, Astros and Yankees - during the streak. Among the current major-leaguers who played in Battle Creek during the eight straight winning seasons are Rafael Bentancourt (Indians), Justin Duchscherer (A¹s), Shea Hillenbrand (Diamondbacks), Aaron Miles (Rockies), Roy Oswalt (Astros) and Johan Santana (Twins).
