COMSTOCK PARK, MI - With a 9-2 win over Cedar Rapids Monday afternoon, the West Michigan Whitecaps claimed the second half Eastern Division Championship. But, the team has little time to celebrate. On Wednesday, September 8th, the 'Caps will begin post-season play at home against the Eastern Division's First Half Wild Card team, the Lansing Lugnuts.
On Wednesday, the 'Caps will play game one of the best of three series at Fifth Third Ballpark starting at 6:35 p.m. Game two and, if needed, game three will take place in Lansing on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th. Both games in Lansing are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
The South Bend Silver Hawks, the Eastern Division's First Half Champion, and the Eastern Division's Second Half Wild Card team the Fort Wayne Wizards will meet in Fort Wayne on Wednesday for game one of their three game series. The winners of the Whitecaps-Lugnuts series and the Silver Hawks-Wizards series will meet in round two of the playoffs. The second round of post-season action is scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 11th.
