
Martinez sent to Provo

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â The Kernels announced Monday that catcher Brett Martinez has been assigned to Provo of the Pioneer (Rookie) League and catcher Marlon Solorzano has been assigned to the Kernels from Provo.
Martinez was assigned to the Kernels from Provo on Aug. 31 to take the place of catcher Bobby Wilson, who was placed on the disabled list with a broken thumb.
Martinez was reassigned to because of an injury at Provo. He was 0-for-2 with a run scored in the only game he played for the Kernels.
Solorzano, from Miami, made only three pinch-hitting appearances for Provo and was 0-for-3.
The moves keep the Kernels roster at 25 players, the Midwest League limit.
