Justin Mapletoft Assigned To Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced Center Justin Mapletoft has been assigned to the Sound Tigers by the Islanders. Mapletoft arrived in Bridgeport and practiced with the team today.
Mapletoft, 22, ranks second with 143 games played, 46 assists and 72 points and is tied for third with 26 goals on the Sound Tigers' all-time scoring leaders list. The Lloydminster, Saskatchewan native is also second with 27 games played, tied for third with eight goals and fourth with 12 assists and 20 points on the team's all-time playoff leaders list. The ninth pick of the Islanders, 130th overall, in the 1999 NHL draft notched his first four NHL points on two goals and two assists in his first 11 games with the big club last season. Mapletoft also had 13 goals, 26 assists, 39 points and 47 penalty minutes in 63 games with the Sound Tigers last year.
The Sound Tigers will begin their third season of play and first under the guidance of new Head Coach Greg Cronin when they visit the Hartford Wolf Pack this Friday at 7:05 p.m. Friday's game will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. The Sound Tigers will host the Philadelphia Phantoms in their home opener at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
