Barons Roster Set, Harvey Reports to Cleveland

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Barons finalized their opening day roster for the 2003-04 season today. The Cleveland Barons announced today that they were assigned forward Todd Harvey from San Jose and reassigned goaltender Nolan Schaefer to Fresno of the ECHL. Doug Wilson, Vice President and General Manager of the San Jose Sharks, made the announcement.

Harvey, 6'0, 205-pounds, has combined to play in over 561 NHL games in his 9-year career, registering 82 goals and 125 assists. The Hamilton, Ontario native spent the last three and a half seasons with the Sharks. In that time, the centerman appeared in 254 games with San Jose, scoring 30 goals and 44 assists.

Harvey rounds out the impressive group of forwards for the Barons. He will be joined by Brad Boyes, Pat Rissmiller, Grant Stevenson, Marcel Goc, and Craig Valette at the center position. At right wing, the Barons will be paced by returning veteran Tavis Hansen, Niko Dimitrakos, Miroslav Zalesak, Jon DiSalvatore, and Willie Levesque. Levesque will miss opening night due to injury. At left wing, the Barons will feature Lyn Loyns, Yuri Moscevsky, Ryane Clowe, and Tomas Plihal.

With the assignment of goaltender Nolan Schaefer to Fresno, the Barons will open the season with the tandem of Seamus Kotyk and Dimitri Patzold in between the pipes.

The Barons defensive unit is made up of Matt Carkner, Jesse Fibiger, Robert Mulick, David Cloutier, Doug Murray, and Greg Labenski. Carkner and Mulick both return to the Barons after missing the second half of last season due to injury. Fibiger, the 6'3", 220-pound defenseman returns to Cleveland after finishing last season with San Jose. Doug Murray, a Hobey Baker finalist in his junior season at Cornell, will make his professional debut on Saturday.
