Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Barons announced today plans for a new community outreach program entitled, "Pasta Lear's Hitting The Books With The Barons". Michael T. Lehr, President of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

The NEOEA (Cleveland area public schools) and Office of Catholic Education are partnering for this program that incorporates teacher activity with youth activity. The Cleveland Barons and Pasta Lear's Pizzeria and Deli have designed a program that will deliver two Barons players to two classrooms each month during the 2003-04 season. The Barons players will teach the classroom the fundamentals of hockey and how students can learn from sports.

In addition to the lessons from Barons players, the entire classroom will receive a pizza party, compliments of Pasta Lear's Pizzeria and Deli. Pasta Lear's Pizzeria and Deli is located on 6310 Engle Road in Brookpark.

Classrooms will be chosen by the Cleveland Barons front office on a monthly basis. To enter, classrooms must complete the assignment for the month, with each month featuring a different task. One NEOEA classroom and one Office of Catholic Education classroom will be awarded per month. For more information about the Pasta Lear's Hitting The Books With The Barons program, contact the Barons at 216-420-0000 or Crash The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.

"The Barons are Cleveland's team and we are dedicated to participate in the community as many ways as possible," stated Lehr. "Our players are very serious about helping shape area youths and by teaching in the schools, they can lead by example."

The Barons open up the season at home on October 11th at 7:00pm. Group tickets for the game are now available by calling the Barons ticket staff at 216-420-0000. Season Tickets and several Partial Plan Ticket Packages are available as well. More information can be found by Crashing The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
