Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls fell to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 8-3 on Friday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park to drop to a 2-2 record in the six-game series. After the Bulls went down three runs early, they rallied to tie the game, but could not overcome the Jacksonville offensive attack.
Jacksonville got started early, as C Nick Fortes hit a three-run home run in the first inning. The Bulls would get on the board in the first inning also off of a sac fly RBI by 2B Isaac Paredes. In the third inning Paredes would find himself in the RBI column again, as he hit a two-run home run to even the contest at 3-3.
The Jumbo Shrimp would weather the storm and regain the lead off of a CF JJ Bleday solo home run. The team kept things rolling in the fifth thanks to a Fortes RBI double for the 5-3 advantage. Jacksonville was able to stretch the lead back to three runs at 6-3 thanks to an RBI single from 3B Willians Astudillo in his team debut. He also connected on a solo home run in the ninth inning to make the score 7-3. DH Lorenzo Quintana used a sac fly RBI as an insurance run to go up 8-3.
Robert Dugger got the start on the mound for the Bulls and threw three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and registering five strikeouts before being relieved. Adrian De Horta made his second appearance of the series, throwing two innings and surrendering two runs on three hits, suffering the loss. Jacksonville relief pitcher Jake Fishman gets credited for the win with 2.1 scoreless innings.
