Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Lorenzo Quintana's bases-clearing double sparking a four-run seventh and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp added four more runs in the eighth on Saturday, besting the Charlotte Knights 10-4 from Truist Field.

The victory was the ninth in 10 games for the Jumbo Shrimp (43-33), putting Jacksonville 10 games over .500 for the first time since 2014. Charlotte (27-49) lost for the 18th time in 20 games.

The score was tied at two when Knights reliever Nik Turley (1-3) walked Bryson Brigman and Monte Harrison with one out. After a pop out, Joe Dunand walked to load the bases. Charlotte brought in reliever Will Carter, who promptly issued another free pass to Zack Zehner on four pitches to give the Jumbo Shrimp the lead. Quintana followed by clearing the bases with a double to make it 6-2.

After Jake Lamb hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh off Jacksonville reliever Alberto Guerrero (1-0), who worked 3.0 innings, Tevin Mitchell led off the eighth with a solo shot of his own. Brigman singled and stole second before Harrison walked. A fly ball moved Brigman to third before Harrison stole second. A balk plated Brigman and then Harrison scampered home on a wild pitch. Later in the frame, Tristan Pompey earned a bases-loaded free pass to give Jacksonville a 10-4 advantage.

The Jumbo Shrimp were able to get on the board first. Dunand reached on an error to start the second and Zehner and Quintana followed with singles to load the bases. Pompey then plated two runs with a base hit to make it 2-0.

Charlotte was able to get on the board in the fourth when Danny Mendick homered. Lamb added an RBI double in the fifth to equalize the tally at two.

Jacksonville and Charlotte wrap up their series with Sunday's 5:05 p.m. contest. RHP Nick Neidert (4-1, 2.25 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Knights RHP Alex McRae (2-5, 5.47 ERA). Coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on ESPN 690AM and www.ESPN690.com.
