Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Fuel defenseman Nick Jones, a 6'2", 200 lb. right-handed shooting native of Cranberry, Pennsylvania, was recalled by the AHL's Worcester Sharks, the Fuel announced Tuesday. In 14 appearances for the Fuel this year, Jones, 24, ranks tied for sixth on the team in scoring with one goal and six total points.
Prior to his time with the Fuel, Jones appeared in four playoff games for the ECHL's Ontario Reign during the 2014 Kelly Cup playoffs, tallying one assist. Jones also appeared in two regular season games for Worcester in the AHL during the 2013-14 campaign. During his amateur career, Jones tallied 32 goals and 93 combined points in 156 career appearances during four collegiate seasons at Mercyhurst College from 2010 to 2014 and collected nine goals and 38 points in 82 games played in the junior ranks for the EJHL's Jersey Hitmen from 2008 to 2010.
Tuesday's announcement makes Jones the second Fuel player to be recalled to the AHL this season, joining goaltender Mac Carruth, currently in the midst of his third assignment of the season to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. In his first AHL appearance of the season, Carruth delivered a 23-save performance and earned a shutout victory in the IceHogs' 3-0 road win over the Chicago Wolves on Sunday.
Next up for the Fuel, it's a Thanksgiving showdown at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Thursday vs. the Fort Wayne Komets with the opening faceoff set for 7:30 pm. Full coverage of Thursday's game begins at 7:15 pm on CBS Sports 1430 WXNT-AM, online at www.cbssports1430.com and on smartphones everywhere via the free "TuneIn Radio" app with Fuel broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.
