November 25, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that goalie Kent Simpson has been reassigned from the Thunder to the Sound Tigers by the Islanders.
Simpson, 22, played in his first game for the Thunder on Saturday and earned the win in his Thunder debut. Simpson stopped 27 of 31 shots and picked up his second win of the season after picking up a win with the Colorado Eagles earlier this year.
The former second round draft selection by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2010, will head to Bridgeport after injuries in the AHL forced the Islanders to reassign the goaltender from the Thunder.
The Edmonton, Alberta native has played 34 AHL games in his career, all with the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, posting a 12-15-2 record with a 3.58 goals-against-average and a .895 save-percentage.
Simpson was assigned to Colorado to start this season where he appeared in 3 games, before being assigned to the Thunder on November 17. In limited action with the Eagles, Simpson posted a 1-2-0 record with a 3.71 goals-against-average and .904 save-percentage.
The Thunder host another Family Day this Wednesday when the Bakersfield Condors return to Stockton Arena. Bring your family to the game on the eve of Thanksgiving by purchasing a Thunder Pride Pack.
