November 25, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- Forward, Danny Hobbs will rejoin the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light., after being reassigned by the Binghamton Senators of the AHL. Former IceMen forward, Jim McKenzie will also return to Evansville this week. Binghamton recalled defenseman, Ty Wishart.
Hobbs returns to Evansville where he posted a goal and an assist in the IceMen's second game of the season against the Indy Fuel. The Shawville, Que. native was recalled immediately following this performance.
In Binghamton, Hobbs had one assist in five games. He scored 17 goals and racked up 18 assists for the Elmira Jackals last season.
McKenzie also returns to Evansville where he played 12 games during the 2012-13 season. The IceMen acquired McKenzie in a trade with the Bakersfield Condors for future considerations.
The forward scored a goal and dished out five assists in the Tri-State Area before departing for the Allen Americans. He would go on to win the CHL Championship in 2012-13 with current IceMen players Kale Kerbashian, and Jarret Lukin.
McKenzie also reunites with IceMen Head Coach, Dwight Mullins, who coached the Minnesotan in Allen during the 2011-12 season. With Mullins behind the bench, McKenzie achieved career highs in goals (20) and assists (24).
In 10 games with Bakersfield, McKenzie scored a goal and had three helpers. He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 5th round (141st overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft.
Wishart leaves Evansville as the team's leader in plus/minus with a +10 rating. The former NHL defenseman scored a goal in 14 games with the IceMen. Wishart also recorded his 100th professional assist in the IceMen's win over Greenville on Nov. 19.
Daniel Johnston will move into the IceMen's defensive rotation as he is expected to make his Evansville debut this week. The IceMen acquired Johnston in a trade with the Colorado Eagles earlier this season.
The IceMen will play three road games over Thanksgiving weekend. They travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday Nov.26, before a Black Friday showdown with the Elmira Jackals. Evansville will finish the road trip at Elmira on Saturday Nov. 29. Fans can watch all three games live at Bar Louie, the Official IceMen Away Game Watch Party Destination.
Kalamazoo will come calling in the IceMen's next home game on Friday Dec.5. It will be Mascot Night at the Ford Center, where area mascots will play a game of broom ball during intermission. Season ticket holders will be allowed to participate in a post-game skate.
