Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - Elk Grove native Jordan Johnson debuted in Triple-A in front of nearly 15,000 fans on Tuesday night's Independence Day Eve celebration as the Sacramento River Cats (38-47) fell to the Fresno Grizzlies (49-35) 5-0.
Johnson, who pitched for Franklin High School before attending California State University - Northridge, tossed five innings allowing four runs on six hits and two walks. He gave up runs in each of the first three innings, but settled down after that, retiring eight of the last nine batters he faced.
Catcher Ryan Hanigan led the offensive effort, singling and drawing two walks. His base hit ended a streak of four consecutive games without reaching base. Infielder Kelby Tomlinson singled and walked before being replaced by Orlando Calixte in the seventh.
Left-hander Matt Gage (4-6, 5.54) will start for the River Cats as they begin a five-game series with the Reno Aces, who will send righy Matt Koch to the mound (0-1, 2.37). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.FM beginning at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
