Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today that former Grizzlies forward Greg Spenrath has been named the team's Assistant Coach. He replaces Chuck Weber, who was named Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones in May.

Spenrath, a draft pick of the New York Rangers in 1989, returns to Utah where he combined to play 48 IHL games for the Grizzlies from 1996-1998. In 48 regular season games with Utah, the 6-foot-3 forward tallied 13 goals, 12 assists and 109 penalty minutes. During the 1998 Turner Cup playoffs, he had one goal and one assist in four games.

The Edmonton, Alberta native previously served as Head Coach of the ECHL's Fresno Falcons from 2003-2005. He led the team to a 39-25-8 record during his only full season as coach during the 2004-2005 season. His professional career total of 707 regular season games includes 361 games that were played with the Falcons, where, as captain, he led the team to the WCHL's Taylor Cup Championship in 2002.

*Greg's attitude about winning is very apparent when you look at his past as both a player and a coach,* said Christie. *The fans here will remember him from his playing days with the Grizzlies and instantly re-appreciate his approach towards the game of hockey.*

The Grizzlies return to E-Center ice October 27 and 28, welcoming in Las Vegas to open their home schedule. Ticket packages are on sale now by calling (801) 988-PUCK.
