Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that RHP Jairo Diaz has been activated from the 7-day disabled list and assigned to the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Friday.

Diaz was a member of the Kernels 2012 Opening Day Roster and in 13 starts for the Kernels, posted a 2-7 record and 7.70 ERA. In 69 IP, he allowed 99 hits and 63 runs (59 earned) with 29 walks and 45 strikeouts. Diaz was signed by the Angels as a non-drafted free agent in 2007 and was placed on the DL back on June 14th.

With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one shy of the MWL maximum of 25, with two players on the disabled list.

The Kernels begin the MWL second half with a six game home stand tonight at 6:35 pm against the Beloit Snappers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
