West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins will come home to West Michigan on Saturday, July 7. Cousins will throw out the first pitch at the Whitecaps vs. Lansing Lugnuts game at Fifth Third Ballpark on July 7.
Cousins is Michigan State's all-time winningest quarterback, posting 27 wins from 2008 through 2011. The three-time Spartan captain holds MSU records for passing touchdowns, passing yards, completions, passing efficiency and total offense. The Holland Christian High School alum was drafted in the fourth round by the Washington Redskins in April and signed a contract with the NFL team three weeks ago.
Cousins will meet with one lucky family on the field before the game. The winners will be selected via a contest put on by WZZM 13 and the Whitecaps. Fans can enter the contest at the whitecaps facebook page (www.facebook.com/wcaps) or the WZZM facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/wzzm13).
Cousins will be joined on July 7 by an intimidating group of Star Wars characters on the annual Star Wars Night presented by Cosmic Candy. Gates open at 5 p.m. and game time is 7 p.m. A post-game fireworks show will finish off the exciting evening.
The Whitecaps are currently at the mid-way point of the season and are off for the Midwest League All-Star Break. The team starts the second half by wiping the win-loss record clean and hosting a six-game homestand against the South Bend Silver Hawks and the Bowling Green Hot Rods tonight through Wednesday, June 27. The Whitecaps then go on the road for six before returning home for the holiday on Wednesday, July 4 to start another six-game homestand.
Group and individual tickets are available for all remaining home games and can be purchased by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131 or visiting www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
