
Jacksonville Evens Series with 2-1 Win over Gwinnett

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After tallying just one hit in Tuesday's game, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp snuck away with a 2-1 win over the Gwinnett Stripers Wednesday night from 121 Financial Ballpark.
Gwinnett (28-28) opened the scoring for the second consecutive night. Kramer Robertson doubled and went to third on a single by Drew Waters. Phil Gosselin hit into a double play but Jacksonville conceded the run, falling behind 1-0.
Jacksonville (29-27) evened the score in the bottom of the fourth. Lewin Díaz led off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Jerar Encarnacion singled, moving Díaz to third. Díaz then scored on a single from Lorenzo Quintana, tying the game at one.
Three innings later, the Jumbo Shrimp took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Bryson Brigman led off with a triple and scored on a throwing error on the same play, giving Jacksonville a 2-1 lead.
The Jumbo Shrimp pitching staff dominated and it started with Daniel Castano tossing a season-high seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with three walks and nine strikeouts. George Soriano wrapped up the game with two scoreless innings, allowing one walk and tallying three strikeouts. Soriano earned his first save since April 6, 2018.
Jacksonville continues their series with Gwinnett at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday with LHP Matthew Kent (2-4, 6.04) starting for the Jumbo Shrimp against Stripers LHP Tucker Davidson (1-1, 4.05). Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN 690, ESPN690.com, and MiLB.tv.
