Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Papillion, Neb) - Dustin Peterson hit a go-ahead three-run home run against Drew Parrish (0-1) in his AAA debut on Wednesday evening as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (32-24) won 4-2 over the Omaha Storm Chasers.
The 'Pigs trailed early as Ivan Castillo hit a home run against Michael Mariot in the bottom of the first inning to give Omaha a 1-0 lead. The home run for Castillo was his second home run of the season. Mariot gave up another home run in the bottom of the third inning - a solo home run by Vinnie Pasquantino that gave the Storm Chasers a 2-0 lead. The home run for Pasquantino was his International League leading 16th home run of the season.
Mariot logged just three innings on Wednesday evening. Jake Newberry (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief that put him in position to earn the win. Peterson's three-run home run came in the top of the fifth inning against Parrish. The fourth run of the inning came on a bases-loaded walk to Jorge Bonifacio that scored Ali Castillo.
Aaron Barrett, Jose Alvarado, and Nick Duron all pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Michael Kelly earned his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs and Storm Chasers will play again on Thursday evening at Werner Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
