Two Homers and a Triple Not Enough in Loss to Lehigh Valley
June 8, 2022 - International League (IL)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Papillion, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (27-27) fell 4-2 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (32-24) on Wednesday night. At Werner Park.
SS Iván Castillo wasted little time putting a run on the board, hitting hit second home run of the season, on just the second pitch in the bottom of the first. Castillo's leadoff homer is the first by a Storm Chaser since October of last year.
Keeping the storm rolling, 1B Nick Pratto hit a double right by the first baseman to put a runner in scoring position with nobody out. DH Vinnie Pasquantino drew a walk with one away before C Freddy Fermin juiced the bases with another walk. Omaha stranded the bases loaded but held a 1-0 lead through one inning.
RF Nate Eaton hit ball that one-hopped the wall in left-center field for his second triple of the season. Eaton has played in 10 games for the Storm Chasers this season and is now tied with Pasquantino for most triples. Pratto was hit by a pitch and stole second put a pop out on the infield ended Omaha's scoring chance.
Pasquantino launched his International League-leading 16th homer of the season to start the bottom of the third. Fermin reached on an error and 3B Clay Dungan moved him to second with a walk with no outs in the inning. A pair of strikeouts and a lineout stranded the runners.
LHP Drew Parrish went 4.2 innings in his Triple-A debut for Omaha, allowing four earned runs with seven strikeouts and just one walk. Parrish threw 4.0 scoreless innings before Lehigh Valley forced some trouble in the fifth. Parrish used 36 of his 94 pitches to get the first two outs in the fifth.
The four-run fifth for the IronPigs gave them the lead heading into the ninth. After stranding eight Storm Chasers runners through the first five innings, Omaha was only able to put one man on in the final four innings, falling in game two 4-2.
Tomorrow is another Chasers Community Celebrations Night, presented by PayPal. This week we are celebrating Pride. First pitch for Thursday's game against Lehigh Valley is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:45 with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show.
