Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, continued to suffer through it their roughest patch of the season in losing three games on home ice last week. The Jackals now sit 13 points behind division leader Cincinnati and are now just four points up on third place Reading.
Overall: 30-15-2-2 (64 pts.) 2nd North Division/5th American Conference/t-7th Overall Last Week: 0-3-0-0 (0 pts.)
Thursday, February 14th - vs. TEXAS (3-6 L) Att: 3,209 Shots: 38-27 TEX PP: 1/5 PK: 3/4
The league-leading Wildcatters had four players with multi-point games including BRANDON BENEDICT's three assists to counter FRANK LITTLEJOHN's power play goal and PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT team-leading 20th of the season on Valentine's Night at First Arena. Texas gained a measure of revenge on Elmira, winning their only appearance of the season here after dropping two of three to the Jackals at Ford Arena in Beaumont earlier this year.
Friday, February 15th - vs. GWINNETT (2-3 L) Att: 3,404 Shots: 31-28 GWT PP: 0/6 PK: 6/6
TOMAS POSPISIL scored with 3:05 left in the game to give the Gladiators a 3-1 lead and the strike held up as the game-winner, allowing Gwinnett to split the brief two-game season series with Elmira. BOBBY ROBINS (11th) and BENOIT DOUCET (15th) had the goals for the Jackals.
Saturday, February 16th - vs. CINCINNATI (1-5 L) Att: 3,974 (sellout) Shots: 49-32 ELM PP: 1/7 PK: 3/4
A season-high 49 shots on goal couldn't help Elmira avoid losing its fifth straight game as DOV GRUMET-MORRIS made 48 saves in pushing the Cyclones 13 points up on the second place Jackals. FRANK LITTLEJOHN ended the shutout bid with 2:45 to go in the game, but it came after Cincinnati built a 5-0 lead thanks in part to a pair of shorthanded goals in the final period.
This Week: Tuesday, February 19th - vs. TRENTON 7:05 p.m. First Arena
Jackals Scratch Ticket Night
Trenton looks for its third straight win in the season series, but enters the week having lost their last seven in a row (0-5-1-1) to fall to sixth in the North Division with 42 points. The Devils took the last meeting between the clubs February 1st, 4-3 in overtime, at Sovereign Bank Arena on a Bill Leclerc goal 1:03 into sudden death, but the Jackals (5-1-1-0 vs. Trenton) have taken all three meetings at First Arena.
